About Hinkley Lighting
Hinkley Lighting, Inc. was founded as a small residential outdoor lantern company in 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio. After founder Phil Hinkley passed away, the business was taken over by his partner, Kansas City traveling salesman Stanley Wiedemer. The rest is lighting industry history.
Stanley’s Grandson, Richard “Rick” Wiedemer, joined the family business in 1969 and spent the next 50 years at the helm of Hinkley’s ascent to becoming one of the world’s finest lighting companies. Over the years, all three of Rick's children took on key roles at Hinkley, which is one of the characteristics the brand is celebrated for. With multiple generations working side by side, authentic family culture is built into the fabric of the company and shines in everything it does.
Thanks to Rick’s vision, passion, and leadership, Hinkley Lighting continued to grow. Today, the brand offers an exquisite selection of indoor and outdoor lighting products and ceiling fans. Along the way, the company rebranded itself as “Hinkley” to more accurately represent its modernized and evolving line of products.
While Rick passed away in 2019, his commitment – not just to fine lighting but to improving customers’ quality of life – endures in all Hinkley lighting fixtures.
